Important: Antara is a wellbeing and self-reflection companion. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
We never sell your personal data.
Who we are
Antara (“we”, “us”) offers a wellbeing app and website at www.antara.icu. We act as the data controller for personal data processed through our app and site.
Information we collect
- Provided by you: account details (name, email), journal entries and reflections, support messages.
- With your permission (optional features):
- Camera — for real-time expression cues and to attach images when you choose to use them (not stored unless you save).
- Microphone — to capture voice reflections; audio is processed securely for transcription and then released.
- Wellness data — if you connect supported sources, we may read categories you approve (e.g., Mood, Emotions) to personalise insights.
- Automatically: basic usage analytics and crash diagnostics (device model, app version, timestamps) to operate and improve the service.
How we use your information
- Provide and personalise the features you request, including reflections and guidance tailored to you.
- Operate, secure, and improve the app (analytics, troubleshooting, performance).
- Support — respond to queries and feedback.
- Compliance — meet legal and regulatory obligations.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
- Consent for camera, microphone, and welness access. You can withdraw at any time in the app or device settings.
- Contract to provide the service you sign up for.
- Legitimate interests for security, diagnostics, and improving the service (balanced against your rights).
- Legal obligation where laws require retention or disclosure.
Payments
All in-app purchases and subscriptions on mobile are processed securely by the platform’s billing (Apple/Google). We do not collect or store your full payment card details. If you purchase on the web, payments are processed by a trusted payment provider acting as an independent controller for card data.
Sharing and service providers
We share data only with trusted service providers under contracts that require strong privacy and security (for example: secure cloud hosting and storage, transcription and language services, analytics/crash diagnostics, customer support, and payments). These providers may use information only to deliver services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transaction.
Wellness connections & permissions
Connecting welness sources is optional. If enabled, we read only the categories you allow (such as steps, sleep, or heart rate) to provide wellbeing insights. You can revoke access at any time in the wellness app and in Antara’s settings. Camera and microphone are requested only when a feature needs them and can be turned off in device settings.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. Journals and wellness data are retained until you delete them or your account, after which we delete or anonymise within 30 days (with backups purged on a rolling basis, typically within 90 days). We may retain certain records where law requires.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with encryption at rest in secure cloud infrastructure. Access is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis. No method is 100% secure; please keep your device and account credentials safe.
Your choices & rights
- Access, correct, or delete your data in the app or by contacting us.
- Withdraw consent for camera, microphone, or wellness access at any time.
- UK/EEA users: rights under GDPR, including portability, restriction, and objection. You may complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Antara is for adults 18+. If we learn we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete it.
International transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., standard contractual clauses) to protect it.
